The Battlemage is out: See Benchmarks, Performance and Reviews.
A couple weeks ago, we discussed the specs, price, and performance of Intel's new Battlemage GPU series, which was set to be released on 12th December 2024. Touted as Intel's most ambitious GPU release yet, the Battlemage was set to compete against NVIDIA's RTX 4000 series and AMD's Radeon 7000 line. Intel promised us the best performance per dollar, top-of-the-line gaming performance with AI features, but were they able to deliver that? Let's see!
1. Specs and Features
In case you missed it the last time, the Intel Battlemage series was released with two models that are the B570 and B580; with the B580 being the higher-end model of the two. The full details are below:
Architecture: The new series gets an upgraded and improved architecture, that is the Xe2 architecture. It was designed to enhance ray tracing and AI-assisted rendering capabilities.
VRAM: The B580 (top model) comes with 12GBs of VRAM and the B570 racks 10GBs.
Upscaling: Intel has improved upon its last generation of upscaling tech which they renamed Xess 2, this might be a direct competitor to Nvidia's DLSS.
2. Performance and Benchmarks
Intel has outdone itself with the new GPUs; improving upon their last generation of GPUs and delivering a product that is fairly priced. The B580 can easily deliver 60+ FPS in demanding AAA games like Black Myth: Wukong and Grand Theft AutoV at 1080p or 1440p with or without XeSS2 and ray tracing and more than 120 FPS in eSport games like Valorant and CS2, but obviously performance in eSports also depends upon your CPU. Intel has also released its own benchmarks which are displayed below:
As you can see, the results are very promising, assuring that users can play any AAA game and max setting with or without Xess2 at desirable frame rates and eSports games at a minimum of 120 FPS for a competitive edge.
Unfortunately, there were no sources about the performance and benchmarks in productive tasks but It would probably slam those too.
With that information, the Battlemage series GPUs have proven that they can deliver satisfying price-performance ratios and even beat their competition, such as NVIDIA's RTX 4060 Ti and AMD's RX 7700 XT, in terms of performance and power efficiency.
There are many benchmarking videos on Youtube that you can also check out, I recommend Linus Tech Tips and Gamers Nexus for a comprehensive benchmark.
3. Community Reviews
Since the day it launched, it became beloved by the PC building and Gaming community, with it low price and high performance value it provided a way for gamers to enjoy their favorite games at the highest setting without sacrificing performance, and the future-proof XeSS 2 assured them that they can play the latest games and the games to come in the future without any hassle. e-Sports players can also attain a competitive edge with the new Xe Low Latency or XeLL for short and get high FPS to hit their flick at the right moment.
4. Final Thoughts
If you are thinking of getting a new PC or upgrading your old GPU on a budget, you should definitely go with this, you won't get a better price-to-performance ratio in any other GPU. Apart from a few rather minor driver issues which will be fixed sooner or later, there is nothing wrong with the Battlemage GPUs.
